Model
This project phase constructs logical groups of applications and indentifies servers/ databases as good candidates for consolidation or virtualisation. Driven from the application requirements matrix constructed in the first phase, applications are organised into as few groups as practically possible, accommodating any specific security or SQL Server version and edition dependencies. The modeling process will capture the SQL Server features used by each application and this can be used in the design phase to determine which version and edition of SQL Server is best suited.
