What is Consolidation?
As your organisation grows, more and more applications and databases are added to your server environment. In some cases there will be only a single database or application running on one server that may have capacity to host multiple instances, each with several databases without compromising security or performance.
By consolidating these applications and databases onto the smallest number of servers possible, without losing efficiency, significant savings can be made. Planning the consolidation carefully also means that managing the server estate going forward is much less complex.
