SQL Server 2000 has an install base running into many thousands in the UK alone. After eight successful years, on 08/04/2008 Microsoft will end mainstream support for all versions of SQL Server 2000.
SQL Server 2000 will then enter an extended support phase - under which Microsoft will no longer accept general break/ fix support cases from customers (unless a Custom Support Agreement is inplace). Instead, Microsoft will provide security related fixes only.
In order to continue to receive support - including service packs, hotfixes, cumulative updates and any assistance from Microsoft - customers should upgrade to a supported version (minimum SQL Server 2005 SP1).
