What Managed Data & Insights is, and why flexibility matters

Go-live is not the finish line. It’s when the real workload begins: maintaining platform reliability, controlling cost, responding to incidents, and still finding time to improve. Coeo Managed Data & Insights is designed for that reality: flexible support that can plug gaps, take BAU off your team, and keep enhancements landing without constant project mobilisation.

For data leaders, the challenge is rarely whether the platform can deliver value. It is whether the operating model can keep up once the platform is live. Managed Data & Insights is designed to give access to reliable operational support, practical delivery capacity, and specialist expertise without having to build every capability permanently in-house.

The service is built around two complementary areas. Manage & Run protects operational stability, covering the day-to-day work that keeps your analytics estate reliable, secure and aligned to business need. Enhance provides a structured route for improvement, so priority changes can keep moving without turning every request into a separate project.

The platforms we operate day-to-day

Managed Data & Insights supports modern Microsoft analytics estates end-to-end, from ingestion to insight, across the tools teams actually use:

  • Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse, Data Pipelines, notebooks, semantic models and reporting)
  • Power BI (including model and report changes, refresh reliability and performance)
  • Azure Databricks (workspaces, jobs/workflows, clusters and operational improvements)
  • Azure Synapse and supporting services such as Data Factory, plus the wider Azure components that underpin them (identity, storage, networking and monitoring)

In other words: we’re not just watching dashboards. We look after the platform behind them, as well as the data solutions and reporting experiences running on top.

Why flexibility matters

Most data teams are operating in constant tension:

  • The business wants new insight, new dashboards, and new use cases.
  • The platform demands upkeep: monitoring, incidents, changes, upgrades, cost control.
  • And modern ecosystems (Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, Power BI) don’t stand still.

Hiring can help, but it’s not always the right lever. You rarely need every skill at 100% utilisation all year round. Some weeks you need deep incident support. Other weeks you need performance tuning. Other weeks you just need extra capacity to keep delivery moving when your team is already at the limit.

That’s where our approach comes in. Managed Data & Insights gives you access to specialist support fractionally (the right capability, at the right time), using a flexible capacity model that can scale up or down as demand changes.

Flexibility does not mean ad hoc delivery. Work is prioritised, governed and delivered through agreed service processes, so clients retain control over what matters most while Coeo provides the operational structure and specialist capacity to deliver it.

How Managed Data & Insights works

Manage & Run: keep the platform stable and trusted

Our Manage & Run service operates under ITIL-based processes and focuses on reliability, stability and governance. This helps prevent your data estate from becoming a recurring source of operational disruption. It includes proactive monitoring and alerting, incident/problem/change management, security and compliance checks, and cost/performance optimisation.

This is where we look after the day-to-day operational health of your data solution – including dependencies that can break reporting, refreshes, and pipelines.

Enhance: keep the platform moving forward

Your analytics platform shouldn’t stand still. Enhance is how we keep progress flowing: a client-prioritised backlog of improvements, shaped by your goals, market developments and Microsoft roadmap changes, then delivered in controlled increments so change remains manageable and momentum does not depend on spinning up a new project every time.

The important part is how these two work together: Manage & Run keeps your solutions running and available, including handling incidents, problems and recurring operational issues; Enhance provides a structured route for prioritised improvements and new value over time.

That is the core of the model: operational discipline where clients need stability, delivery capacity where they need momentum, and specialist expertise where they need depth without committing to permanent headcount. For data leaders, the value is not just support; it is the ability to keep the platform reliable while continuing to deliver change.

In Part 2, we’ll look at how that works in practice, with real-world examples of organisations using Managed Data & Insights in different ways.
